Bed of Moss and Resurrection Fern

Early morning, after an evening shower, the temperature is just a wee bit lower.

 Not many bearable mornings for coffee outside are left.



This is my first summer with the moss bed

so far so good.  It does take

daily watering but it's worth it.



The Squirrels are beginning to hoard for the winter and

they think this is the perfect place to stash their acorns.

Weeding consist of pulling oak tree seedlings weekly.

What critter wouldn't love to lounge in this bed

and enjoy this great fern pillow?

I love Resurrection Fern, it grows on our

Oak trees.  I am the neighborhood fern collector.

After a windy storm you can fine broken

branches covered with the lovely fern.

It can survive draught and will look totally dead

but with a little rain

 it is back to life.

I have never seen it in garden centers I feel sure

it hasn't any value but that makes it even more

desireable to me.

  We are having a rainy overcast afternoon.  I always think that is a great time

to take cuttings. 
Our days are hot,hot, hot so the poor cuttings need a chance.

 Myrtle, which is my all time

favorite plant, is a good plant to use for cuttings.  I love the look of a topiary especially in Myrtle, Boxwood or Rosemary.

Each year I keep trying and it seems like Rosemary is the hardiest.

     A friend brought me this lovely nest from the country.

  One that only a special cloche is befitting to show off its beauty.

A mother bird worked very hard building this lovely nest where she raised her happy little family this spring.

Queen Anne's Lace with Dill

What may not seem like much to you,
makes me jump for joy.  Queen Anne's Lace is
mixed with Parsley, Dill and Bishops Hat. 

 All of these I dearly love but with only a couple     
   of plants each there isn't much bloom to celebrate. I can only hope they
survive our hot dry summer
and spread next spring.

ALWAYS TIME FOR TEA

Thanks for coming by today.

I wish you could drop in for coffee or tea,

but since you can't let me tell you what

I have been up to.

I have been under the weather this

weekend and finally feeling better. 

Today I spent time with Picasa, downloading

and organizing photos.  Since I can't get a

new camera anytime soon I need

to learn to improve on what I have.

That darn light issue is always

a problem for me and everythings seems out of focus.  Oh, Well

Rooting Curly Willow 101

These few photos are a test to my patience. 

I love Curly Willow especially in fresh arrangements.

Even by itself it has a good look. I'm experimenting in rooting some. 

  It roots so easily, just keep it in fresh water for a couple of weeks and surprise, surprise - Roots.

So far I have two batches growing in containers.

         

Maybe by next year I won't have to buy any.

Oh, by the way did you notice the little watermark?

Like I said I am new at this and no I didn't realize it was going to be on all of the photos.
