MY NEW BEST FRIEND

Hello Friends,

I wasn't the only early bird at Tim Tait's estate sale today.
High Cotton  http://www.highcottonmobile.com/

A finally met Linda from Coastal Charm - Yep in the flesh!

http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/

I have been a follower of her charming blog for a few years and always try
to join the fun at Nifty Thrifty Tuesday's.
Linda and her sweet husband have a booth at
Antiques at the Loop  www.antiquesatloop.com
 where I have recently joined.

If you not confused yet, Tim and his wife Desiree also own Antiques at the Loop.(That's another post)

Where was I?  Oh yes, I now have a new best friend.

I started calling her Sassy - Miss Sassy, check her out.

I am trying to contain my happiness
I am so thrilled to have "Miss Sassy".

Look at her, she is so confident, great posture.
This chic has a cute figure.

Yep she's a keeper!

I am on a mission to find display pieces for my
tiny shop and I know she will
work esp. since she was such a good price
$25.00 - Nifty Thrifty Tuesday

No base, so I will be challenged on how to use her.

I can see gauze and old lace wrapped here and there
my jewelry will look great on Miss Sassy.
She will be able to pull it off.
Do you have any suggestions?

Come join me at a few parties.
Enjoy the rest of your week, Kathy

HAPPY YELLOW

Artist Kim Meyers Smith was such inspiration to me
with her painting of a Black Eye Susan.
www.kimmeyerssmith.com

They are just so dog gone happy!  I just had to
post more happy yellow, hope it makes you smile.

Beautifully Suddenly shared this lovely image from  her Farmers Market - Ferry Building, Ca.

Masses of yellow flowers do take my breath away.

I have wanted to get back to playing with
my photos and it's been awhile since I joined Mary @
Dear Little Red House - - Mosaic Monday Party
 http://dearlittleredhouse.blogs

Why is it even the simple tasks can take so darn long?
Last week was her Mosaic Monday Yellow, oh well
Yellow is great anytime.

These sunflowers from last weeks Market on the Square were so fresh
and alive the centers just popped with life.

This wonderful watercolor is by artist Leslie Saeta from
www.dailypainters.com

These lovely paintings may inspire me to drag out my watercolors
and give it a try. I am going to add that to my creative to do list.

Back Yard Redo - Phase 2

I was ambitious this spring and after
giving up the battle of the weeds.

I took on a few projects in my back yard.
one was the checkboard patio (Phase 1).
(which I dearly love)

Then I had this revelation to do an herb
bed in the back.  I have always
loved the structured English cottage knot gardens.

So after some pliminary planning I took
the leap of faith and phase 2 is over.

The garden is 14' X 14' and would need
almost 50 dwarf shrubs to layout
the square design

I found dwarf  Boxwood which was naturally
my favorite, but ouch, $6 - 7 a plant.

I knew I just needed a small leaved hedge
and one that would stay dwarf.  I found
Helira at our local flea market for $3 each.

The soil was amended, amended and
amended more.

 The English cottage garden design
is all about synmetry and I chose
the traditional square with a X on the inside.

The center of my garden plays host
to a gift from my friend Pam many years ago.

I chose Artemisia to surround the
iron structure. Here in the deep south it is
easy to find Dusty Miller or Snow on the Mountain
Artemisia so I mixed the two.

I love the lace foliage of Artemisia
and the gray white color just
glistens in the garden

After the structure was in place then the
fun began and I was able to fill
in with herbs.

I have a herb bed in the front cottage garden
but I have enjoyed being able to pick
from the back.  This area gets only morning sun
so I shall see how everything grows.

Our spring is over this week the weather has been
in the 90's so my garden planning is over
until at least fall.

My Phase 3 in my Backyard makeover is
a shade bed running along my fence line.
I have mostly moss, ferns and hosta.  I will feature
this bed in another post. For now I can't wait to
check out what your garden projects have been.
Enjoy!  Lets Garden Hop! Kathy

MARKET ON THE SQUARE Downtown Mobile

FARM FRESH FLAVOR

In the spring and fall our downtown plays host to a wonderful farmers market.
http://www.downtownmobile.org/events.html

I am never disappointed with the great variety and quality of fresh veggies, homemade breads, cheese and lots of great plants and bouquets of home grown.

BLUE MOON FARM is just one of the great merchants.

Just look at these great colors!

I can't resist Sunflowers they are always
one of my favorite.

Blue Moon Farm is an organic farm at its best.

I love the market not only are the prices better but the products
are excellent.

Usually picked the day before, freshness at its peek.

Do you support your local markets, these farmers and growers
need our support.

Finished shopping refresh with a lemonade on the go.

I do love our Markets.  Enjoy supporting yours.

I'm heading over to a few linky parties, come join up.
